Our Founder

Starscape was founded in January 2017 in Houston, Texas by astronaut and physicist Juan McNielson. Born in Houston, Texas, he grew up in the Copperfield area before moving towards Space City. He studied astronomy at the University of Houston, graduating at the top of his class with a master’s degree in Planetary Science. His dream to explore the stars became a reality when he joined NASA as an intern doing laboratory work, eventually moving up the ranks and training as a professional astronaut. His first spacewalk was on April 15th, 2003. Now his goal is to impart his wisdom and experience to new generations of eager adventurers and guide them safely to the stars so they can view the beauty of the cosmos first-hand.

When not participating as captain for space expeditions, Juan spends time with his beautiful wife, Sarah, and his two kids, Stephanie and Marjorie.

Ruby Skylark, Senior Pilot: Ruby is a native Texan from Beaumont. She graduated from Lamar Institute of Technology with a degree in chemical engineering, but she moved to Houston to pursue her true passion of space travel and specialized in aircraft piloting.

James Davidson, Senior Chemist: James grew up in Orlando, Florida, being enchanted by the allure of space at a young age. He worked at Florida's NASA branch as a chemist developing new types of material for space suits as well as new types of space food. He brought his talents (and taste!) to Starscape.

Noel Cortez, Senior Engineer: Noel moved to Houston from Mexico at a young age and was drawn towards space exploration due to the amount of science fiction movies he viewed as a child. His dreams of creating state-of-the-art spacecraft have come true in the form of Starscape's premiere travel fleet.
